The Ohio State University
Testing and Services

Testing, Engineering, & Software Development Services (TESS) projects have a well-defined scope with no possibility for IP generation. These projects allow OSU CAR to better utilize facilities and provide these services to industry at competitive rates. TESS projects can be approved and initiated on short time frames and are managed by the same faculty and staff who conduct research at OSU CAR.

Recent clients for TESS include a wide portfolio of automotive OEMs, automotive suppliers, and companies looking to enter the automotive market. Established companies use TESS to complement in-house capabilities, whereas other companies use TESS to provide capabilities not available in-house.

Types of services provided fall along the strengths of OSU CAR’s research programs and include: engine and exhaust after-treatment testing; battery characterization, validation, and aging; light and heavy-duty vehicle chassis dynamometer testing; modeling simulation and related software services; and literature, technology, and patent surveys.
