Ohio State's EcoCAR project recognized as a National Number One by The Columbus Foundation

The Ohio State University's EcoCAR team was recognized by The Columbus Foundation at its annual National Number Ones luncheon. The list of attendees included national champions and nationally-recognized individuals, teams and organizations.

Ohio State's EcoCAR 2, housed at the Center for Automotive Research, achieved first place overall in the national EcoCAR 2 competition in June 2014. The competition, sponsored by the US Department of Energy, challenged 15 unviersity teams to develop a showroom-ready hybrid electric Chevrolet Malibu. (More: ecocar.osu.edu.) Representing EcoCAR 2 at the luncheon were Katherine Bovee, team captain; Giorgio Rizzoni, faculty advisor and director of the Center for Automotive Research; and David Emerling, industry collaborations director.

Building on this achievement and a history of over 20 years of participation in the US Department of Energy's Advanced Vehicle Technology Competitions, Ohio State has been selected to participate in the next competition in the series, EcoCAR 3. The Ohio State EcoCAR team's mission is to develop a showroom-ready hybrid electric Chevrolet Camaro that meets or exceeds the technical requirements provided by sponsors.
