Pat has served the Center for Automotive Research (CAR) for nine years and the university for a total of 21 years. Comments submitted in support of her nomination for the award were read by the dean: "she not only coordinates and executes much of the behind the scenes work at CAR and for the director, but also frequently is on the frontline for [CAR's] public and industrial interactions;" "she possesses excellent public interpersonal skills and follow-through on all matters large and small, it is her precise attention to detail and organization that sets her apart;" "Pat cares about CAR in a way that goes above and beyond simply being an efficient administrative associate. She brings a personal passion to what she does, and no task is too simple or too daunting for her." As a thank you, Pat shouted out a big "O-H" to the audience.

Along with lunch, attendees received various tokens of appreciation from the dean and the Engineering Staff Advisory Committee. These included an 'I <3 Engineering' tshirt and key chain and pen set with the engineering logo. Any staff member who was unable to attend the event may pick-up a tshirt in room 142 of Hitchcock Hall while supplies last.
