In U.S. News & World Report’s 2015 Best Graduate Schools issue, several departments within The Ohio State University College of Engineering placed among the top programs in the nation.

Ohio State’s Department of Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering was ranked 11th among peer specialties within American universities. The nuclear engineering program, part of the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, ranks 14th overall.

Other top 20 engineering programs at Ohio State include industrial/manufacturing engineering (17), computer engineering (18), electrical engineering (18) and materials engineering (18). Just outside of the top 20, chemical engineering jumped six spots, from 29 to 23, since last year’s rankings.

The publication’s engineering specialty rankings are based solely on peer assessments by department heads in each specialty area. The peer assessment surveys for the specialty area rankings were conducted in fall 2013.

In January, Ohio State ranked 23rd in the 2014 U.S. News & World Report  Best Online Graduate Engineering Programs rankings. And last fall, U.S. News & World Report's 2014 edition of Best Colleges ranked Ohio State's engineering undergraduate academic program 14th among public universities whose highest degree is a doctorate, up from 17th the previous year.
