Columbus, Ohio – Buckeye Current is pleased to announce its return to Colorado Springs this June to participate in the 100th anniversary of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, the Race to the Clouds.

Buckeye Current, operating out of the Center for Automotive Research at The Ohio State University, is a student-led project team that designs and builds electric road-racing motorcycles. The team races on a professional level in national and international competitions.

Established only six years ago, Buckeye Current has already created a strong success record: an East Coast Timing Association land speed record in 2012, third place in the Isle of Man TT Zero in both 2013 and 2014, and second in the Electric Modified class of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in 2015. The team returns to Pikes Peak this upcoming summer in the hopes of

not only placing well in the electric class again, but breaking the overall course record for motorcycles of 9:58. Improvements to last year’s RW-3 racing model include a high-performance cooling system to help avoid thermal limitations, completely custom geometry based on sophisticated computer aided design and analysis, fully redesigned battery pack, and numerous upgrades to the electronic system managing the bike and all of its components.

Buckeye Current is also pleased to announce the return of its veteran rider, Rob “The Bullet” Barber, an eight-year competitor at the Isle of Man TT. Barber has three podium finishes in the TT Zero and the team looks forward to watching him race up Pikes Peak this summer.
