Semi-annual External Advisory Board Meeting highlights Ohio State and TRC collaboration

On Friday, October 6, 2017, numerous industry, government and campus partners attended The Ohio State Center for Automotive Research's (CAR) semiannual External Advisory Board meeting hosted by the Transportation Research Center (TRC).

The meeting kicked off with remarks from Brett Roubinek, president and CEO

of TRC. Roubinek shared TRC’s plans for a Smart Center and how TRC and Ohio State can work together to impact the automotive industry. Ohio State faculty member Keith Redmill and TRC employee, Josh Every drove the message home when they presented on past, present and future collaboration between the two organizations.

Additionally, attendees heard from John Bolte, director of the Ohio State Injury Biomechanics Center regarding injury prevention and the research being done to make sure passengers are safe in autonomous vehicles. PhD student and EcoCAR member, Greg Jankord, presented on the outstanding partnership between TRC and the motorsports teams.

A highlight of the day was the opportunity to tour the TRC facilities, view the motorsports vehicles and speak with team members.

The breadth of information shared during the meeting resulted in great questions, discussion, and opportunities for collaboration.
