EcoCAR 2 Year 2 finals: Day one results

Posted:

Friends of the OSU EcoCAR 2 Team:

Today is the first day of the Year 2 competition for EcoCAR 2: The Next Challenge. On Sunday 14 students arrived in Yuma, AZ--the location of GM’s desert proving grounds. They will spend a week undergoing an aggressive battery of tests to evaluate the vehicle’s environmental impact and performance in the brutal heat of the desert Southwest. Before they even started, the Ohio State team already is in great position: overall first place with 20% of the total competition points arrived. The team swept the pre-competition business awards, winning the Best Business Plan ($500), Best Sponsor Pitch ($750), and Best Business Results Report ($750). The engineering team had the highest scoring progress reports ($2000) which documented the teams build over the past 12 months. Today the team will get access to their vehicle and work to get through an aggressive safety inspection by a panel of judges from GM, Argonne National Labs, and other experts in the field.

Stay tuned for more updates as the two week competition unfolds.
