Thank you to newest Motorsports Capstone Design program sponsor: Goken America

Posted:

OSU Motorsports' newest Motorsports Capstone Design program sponsor is Goken America.  Through this partnership Goken America will sponsor a senior capstone project for Ohio State's Baja SAE team.

"Goken America is very proud and excited for the opportunity to be a part of such a wonderful program. The skill and dedication of these students is truly amazing and to be able to contribute to their professional development in this small way is something we take great pride in," says Doug Smith, Goken America Chairman and CEO. "We hope to be a part of this program for the long term."

The Motorsports Capstone Design program, based upon projects from Ohio State’s six motorsports teams, is one of several themed capstone opportunities available to Ohio State engineering students. The course lasts a full academic year and is designed to be a hands-on, open-ended introduction to the design process.

Goken America's sponsorship will directly be used to fund a College of Engineering student's work in data acquisition for the Baja SAE team.

Evan Yarrington, team manager, "The Ohio State Baja SAE team sends a special thanks to Goken America for donating to our senior capstone design project in data acquisition, which will help us push the performance limits of our vehicles."

"Capstone projects are a very important part of our students' education," says David Emerling, CAR's industry liaison director. "We are happy that industry partners like Goken America are supporting this very worthy cause."

About Motorsports Capstone Design Course
The Motorsports Capstone Design Course, based upon projects from Ohio State’s motorsports teams, is one of several themed capstone opportunities available to Ohio State engineering students. The course lasts a full academic year and is designed to be a hands-on, open-ended introduction to the design process. Students begin the program with a traditional classroom experience to learn the fundamentals of engineering design and other important professional skills. After this phase, students work in groups for several months under the supervision of a faculty or staff member to complete an ambitious design-build-test project. Students learn valuable skills in design, engineering communication, and teamwork as they progress through a rigorous design process on a real-world problem. The course culminates in a college-wide exhibition in which industry judges evaluate each of the project team’s efforts. Learn more: http://car.osu.edu/education/motorsports-capstone-design-course.
